VIEWPOINT ONE: RED FLAG OVER SKYE EDGE

The final piece of our first Viewpoint is now in place.

We've installed a Publicity Department flag at the Skye Edge viewpoint. This will help you to spot the viewpoint from further away. The flag is made from waste fabric and found wood, and was stitched by Kirsteen at Syd and Mallorys.

We put it up last week. It was a beautiful day, as you can probably tell. We have no idea how long it will last up there. Hopefully people will like it, and leave it where it is.

High-viz all the way. Health and safety is at the heart of everything we do.

The flag is red. We thought about doing a white flag, with a red logo, but decided that Sheffield has raised the white flag a bit too often over the last few years.

We'll be installing a flag at the summit of every walk.

  1. What a great blog!

I followed your (excellent) directions and markers up onto Sky Edge nice and early on Sunday morning.

Beautiful views - particularly the shape of the roof of the Park Hill flats picked out with snow.

And the edge itself seemed criminally underused by sledgers. I have no idea why, it's a tobogganists dream!

I fear your flag may have gone for a Burton.

    Looking forward to walk no2.
